K9 PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINING and BEHAVIOUR CONSULTANCY

I am delighted to write a reference for Jane Harper of Dogs On Track as I have known Jane for a number of years & have been referring my distance clients to her for follow up, with great success I might add.

Jane has a natural ability (backed up with many years of experience) in dealing with dogs in both training for obedience to trial level & rehabilitating dogs with behaviour problems from mild to severe. I have had the pleasure of working with Jane & watch her work with dogs that I would feel many trainers would deem "very difficult cases".

Working in the behaviour field also requires the behaviourist to have excellent communication, follow up, planning skills & of course patience, all of which Jane has mastered. I don't think there has been one case I have referred to Jane that has not contacted me at a later date absolutely raving about the work Jane has achieved with them.

Jane has attended many of my workshops & events all over Australia; her commitment to learning is outstanding.

I run one of the major behaviour consultancies in Australia & am kept busy solely by word of mouth referrals, so it is very important for me to maintain my reputation by only referring people to behaviourists around the country who I know will perform at a high standard each and every time.

It is with these thoughts in mind that I never hesitate to recommend my friend and colleague, Jane Harper

James Cumines

Jane Harper has been a Veterinary Nurse with our surgery for almost 4 years and we are sad to lose her since she has gone full time to her own business with behavioural consultations. Jane is extremely professional and knowledgeable in her field of behaviour.

We have been referring our clients to her with their pets over the last three years with great success and are continuing to refer them to her.

She always makes her clients feel informed as she diagnoses the problem behaviours and then tailors a plan to sort out the pets' problem. She has always been very approachable and explains things in down to earth terms.

We would recommend her to anybody seeking help with problem behaviour in their pet.

Bec & Mischa

I first met Jane when I was referred to her by Steve Courtney from K9 Force in NSW. At the time I had a male husky who, after being attacked numerous times, had developed fear aggression towards other dogs.

It had gotten to a point that he would lunge at any dog that walked by us and if given the opportunity would grab another dog by the scruff of the neck and shake it.

Although he is actually quite calm for a husky, loves people and is well behaved at home, if another dog was in his sight I struggled to get his focus back and to control his lunging and pulling from the other end of the leash.

I thought it would take many sessions with Jane to train Micha's aggression to a managable level, but after meeting Jane for a one on one session, she tailored a training program that was so easy to implement that we didn't need another session.

Over the next few months Jane gave me plenty of support via email and Micha came along in leaps and bounds. I was even able to take Micha to obedience club and get him to sit/stay metres away from a strange dog, 100% focus on me!

But Jane's support and assistance went beyond helping me with Micha's aggression. I also have a beagle who has proven to be the most difficult dog I have ever owned - Jane has always been on hand to help me with Daisy, from a quick question to essay length emails where I was almost in tears over how stubborn and difficult the "evil beagle" was!

It has been two years since I first met Jane and not only do I have a dog aggressive dog that has made huge progress but a beagle who would be no where near as obedient as she is now if it was for Jane's continuous help and advice.

I cannot thank Jane enough!
Bec

Deb & Monah

The following excerpt is from Deb, who's dog Monah was very fearful not only of other dogs and people but sudden noises or movement. The flutter of a leaf would trigger her into fearful flight, with tail clamped tightly between her legs she would run around nervously barking.

I have a female desexed purebred dog that I bought at 13 weeks of age. She was quite fearful and nervous especially around other dogs and children and even strangers.

We spent many, many hours socialising and training her and did have some success. However, when we got another puppy at the time our first dog was a year old, she was aggressive toward the pup and very unreliable.

After a little while I realised I needed professional help as soon as possible and I found Jane through an acquaintance. We set up a consultation and took our dog with us.

Jane had our dog worked out very quickly and spent much more time with us than originally booked. She was very pleasant to talk to and also understanding and gave us confidence and hope that we could alleviate most of our problems with some hard work.

Jane emailed a special program to follow and I followed it completely. The changes in our dog occurred within a few days. She was much more consistent in her behaviour, and recognised us as being in charge so there was no need for her to be nervous or fearful. Jane emailed regularly with updates to the program and advice and prevented me from feeling like giving up.

Now, after 2 years, my dog is just a wonderful, clever, loving part of the family and we adore her. I still keep the program available in case we ever slide backwards, and Jane and I are still in contact. This is a person who genuinely cares about the outcome of her programs and takes a huge amount of interest in every situation.

I had tried many dog trainers and different training methods, but it was a behavourist I needed and we have never looked back.

Thank you Jane!!!

Jo & Baci

Baci has always been a dog that pushed the boundaries even as a fluffy 12 week old pup. From six months her interactions with other dogs became increasingly antisocial and frightening as she would greet them in a friendly manner and then after a few moments snap at them.

We immediately sought the assistance of a Behaviourist and went through three with no answer or effect. The behaviour continued to grow worse and we withdrew from Obedience and Dog Sport and contemplated medication, until the Dogs Online Forum recommended Jane for her expertise in aggression.

Not only did Jane diagnose Baci correctly but every training session allows Baci to work with a non reactive therapy dog. This, along with Jane's training techniques has made a world of difference as in past any interaction would reduce me to a nervous wreck as Baci strained at the lead and ignored any command given.

With Jane's help, Baci has come a long way and we can now walk beside another dog and ultimately this has given back the simple pleasure of going on long walks.

We are planning to resume Obedience in the new year and I cannot thank Jane enough for her advice, training and for always going the extra mile.

It is evident that Jane truly loves and understands each dog and I cannot recommend her enough.

Julie & Jeddah

I first met Jane after working with K9 Force, Sydney with my Doberman's fear aggression. As I'm based in Brisbane, Steve Courtney recommended Jane for my follow-up work and further guidance.

Jane, from our very first session, was everything you could hope for in a trainer - consistent, encouraging, great communication, achievement-oriented, enthusiastic and supportive. Jane is thorough in every aspect of her work, following up a training session with descriptive emails to further enhance your knowledge and skills. I still refer to Jane's notes at times when I feel I need that something extra.

Jane can be quite surprising at times too. I remember commenting to Jane that Jeddah had a problem with skateboarders. Jane then said that she saw skateboards on sale the previous day and maybe she should pick one up and ride the skateboard at our next session for Jeddah's desensitising! I think I nearly fell over laughing at the vision of two "middle aged" women, skateboarding with a Doberman along the Redcliffe waterfront! Even more hilarious was the fact that Jane was quite serious.

Jane kept me focused and positive through some difficult times with Jeddah, and I will always appreciate the valuable lessons that I gained through my sessions with Jane. This is not just a job for Jane, it is a passion.
